AURORA, Colorado (AP) -- About 150 high school students walked out of class to protest a decision to put a teacher on leave while they investigate remarks he made about President Bush in class, including that some people compare Bush to Adolf Hitler.

Freedom of Speech, Discussion, Debate, Different Views?... Anything... Other than subtle censorship? ... Please?!?

A band I like

I used to be very Iffy about the band Anti-flag untill I started really listening to them with full attention and saw how hard they tried to defend everyone's right to be free.

They are one of the main causes of me being so politically inclined, I used to be angsty and ignorant at the beggining but thanks to my good friends and motivation I read on and try to become more educated everyday.

On march 21st they debut with a major record label, I really wish them the best of luck and I'll do anything I can to support.

Not many bands can remain as real as anti-flag and get as far as they have.
Even better, they made their path with strongly being themselves, I have a lot of respect for them/

Now Someome please tell me I'm having a bad nightmare, or I'm on some bad Drugs because this is just unbelievable, is it just me or this handfull (one hell of a BIG handfull) of people can't sleep if they don't have a way of controlling and setting rules upon people, I guess since less and less people listen to them everyday, they gotta make their own town, with their own counter-productive and anti-life rules, sure, Go ahead, Live on the carnage.

I have emailed a Couple of organizations and I hope to get a reply from them, hopefully they'll help raise awareness of this... christian wonder... to avoid constructing a sentense with offensive outcomes.

I am personally don't welcome death (I don't think anyone does) for the simple reason that, We die and we have no clue of where we are going (Given that we ARE going somewhere, which I doubt).

Last night I was talking to my friend and he starts talking about his view on the meaning of life, well. this is how it goes (as of his opinion):

"We spend our life finding ways to master our physical and psychologicalsides."

Yet, this could be viewed in so many different ways, it aches my head to even think about it, specially depending on a person's overall religious belief.

To me it sounds silly to the extent that, in his eyes, we spend our lives not being the horse nor the rider, instead, the one that watches both of them go.

Since I am an atheist, I don't believe in life after death so, to spend all life working on something that will soon be lost when you die, can become somewhat silly or rather more of a wasted... effort.

Now, I am not saying, don't worry about learning and forget wisdom, I simply believe I have a more hands on approach towards learning from life, which is by doing and implementing everything I learn and learn from that, therefore gaining new knowledge AND getting to use them, instead of being afraid of relationships and many more things becuase he feels that he doesn't know enough, strange, but it's his choice.

As per me, I like to find answers to questions and enigmas with my own rationale, for any case it might be.

Maybe more people should start doing that, instead of letting the answers be fed to them...

I'd like to start by saying that I'm still shocked about the bombings, it kept me sitting still in silence for a good hour 2 days ago when I heard the news and I am terribly sorry for all those innocent people that have been victims and the fact that they have to be the ones paying for all the nonsense that is being led by our politicians and theirs.

I am honestly enraged... and it's not mainly becuase of the terrorists, if it's even the terrorists we are told they are, I don't know, you don't know, so what is there to think? Most people eat all what they are spoon fed here in the U.S. like our darling Mr. Bush who did not wait a bit and was inmediately on the news repeating his retarded "cause of freedom will prevail"

Conservatives and Liberals Part #2

Something I have started to find rather funny and strange at the same time, is the fact that, if you've ever argued, discussed and/or talked to a conservative person (A republican in most cases), They always refer to liberals as scum and sometimes they've told me I'm gonna rot in hell and what not, and it's not like I was insulting them, they just hate my points of view, or they just plain and simple hate what I'm saying.

I am not saying all the non-consevatives are holy and have never done anything wrong, but I would say that a decent one strives for a place with fair treatment, instead of getting our minds stuck on "he's the boss, I do what he/she says and that's it" there is always room for improvement, maybe it takes a little more work to live in a better place, but it's worth it, instead of acting primitive and using our muscle for everything and being so concerned about ourselves and only ourselves, maybe we can live together in peace one day.

I was discussing with my friend a couple days ago on how people were how they were, that we robbed and killed, acted greedy and so on, and he said "It's human nature", I personally believe that, that is just primitive (or lazy) human nature, it is like when someone robs for food or they just do what they want, the quick way, we are the smartest species in the planet, we can agree just like we can disagree, of course, sacrificing some of the stuff for only ourselves might be hard for some people, and thats why we have the situations we have today.

That leads me (like in many other occasions) to touch on the subject of religion, an average middle class christian/catholic (all of us knowing) does not have much simpathy for anyone that is not like them, simpathy to the extent of accepting and lending a helping hand, and this is becuase of the fear that is put into their heads, when I tell some people I am atheist, they look at me and they swear and can bet money on the fact that I worship the devil and all his demon buddies, which is ridiculous, yet, I don't mind having them as friends.

I think most people just lets things ride how they are and as long as THEY are ok it's all fine, and in reality it's not, but noone gets up to do anything. I think an average liberal welcomes the idea of living together in peace with everyone instead of pushing people out of their world, country, county, whatever. Granted, not all of them think this way, but then again, we don't live in a perfect world.

I'm done writing for the day, Feel free to comment, this is a blog open for discussion, it's not the news and I don't intend to be right about everything :) I welcome new thoughts and ideas.

I don't know if any of you have ever stopped to think about this, if we stop and look at both sides, Conservatives and Liberals.

First, let's Define them both with an outside source, for this case I will use the encarta dictionary.

Prejudice by Default - Part 2

This is not as religion filled as Part 1, But one thing it is filled with is Prejudice, maybe some of you have had bad expiriences with them, and that's understandable, part 2 is about the prejudice by default that a huge amount of people have against Homosexuals, This is my take on it, Homosexuals are just regular human beings, they walk, they breathe, just like us, some are brilliant, some have hearts bigger than a house, some are ass holes, just like a Heterosexual, the only difference is that they love someone of the same gender, and we all know that you can't change who you love, gender is not the issue.

For example, I talk to my parents about my friends, my mother asks me about them, I tell them they are awesome and what not, then talking here and there I mention one of them is gay, then and there our conversation takes a huge turn, why? let's see if we can figure it out, so my mother's facial expression changes, tenses a little if I may add, she looks for confirmation by saying, he's gay? I say, Yes mom, he is gay, is there anything wrong with that? she replies, oh no nothing at all (here comes the twist) just be carefull with him he might try to touch you or something. Let's freeze the conversation right on this spot, so there is the self-contradiction she says nothing at all and then warns me of my friend being some type of predator that's gonna touch me and abuse me to no end pretty much, the truth is, those friends are the ones that actually help me the most out of all my friends, out of all my friends put together.

Let's continue with the conversation, so I ask my mother, mom, do you hate gay people or something of that nature? she says no! no at all honey, I just want you to be carefull as always.

I mean, Come on, yes they are gay, so what? Homosexuality is not a box of procedures for you life that include being evil, disrespectfull, covered in aids and many of that retarded stuff that people think.

If you were wondering about H.I.V. rates, the rate of infection in Heterosexuals is skyrocketting, the one in homosexuals is, can you guess? it's dropping, I guess they are actually listening to advice.

this kind of reminds me of my previous post about Atheism and Comunism, homosexuality is just the fact that someone likes someone of the same gender, that's it, and they can't help it, every one of them is their own different person, just like everyone else, give them a chance will ya?

Prejudice by Default - Part 1

Many of you have probably lived, seen or heard of these situations, I was looking back into my past relationships, or attempts of it, and I remember this specific one where, I used to like a girl and she liked me too, how cute, well the point is, I remember when we first brought up that we liked each other and she would say that it would be such a problem becuase of my beliefs, well, I have no beliefs what was the problem? she was, if I'm not mistaken a pentacostal, one of the many, many branches (or editions) of Christianity.

So here we have me and here sitting talking, and we both like each other but the only thing stopping us is that according to what she was taught, seeing people like me was wrong, a sin, or something along those lines, well, Am I a killer? do I burn things? I probably do more good than the average person, way more. why is this prejudice set by default? so not believing in Jesus makes me bad? if that is the case then I am glad I turned into an Atheist twice as much now. What kind of god would do that. Funny part is that it probably doesn't say it anywhere in the texts but then again, look at how full of hatred, prejudice and greed our society is, it only makes sense in a human creating so have human traits of Ignorance and hatred.

Why? Why divide? Aren't we all... Human? Why?

Non-theological systems of thought

Types of non-theological based ideas:
I will list some of the non-god based theories of belief and give a brief explanation on each one of them.

Atheism: It is pretty much based on the disbelief in the existence of a God, Gods or Deities, If you don't know what a deity is, a deity is a higher power, something/someone resembling god and/or anything among those margins. There is no holy book, better yet, there's no such thing as holy.
Agnostic: Agnostics are not as far down in the road of disbelief as Atheists. Agnostics claim that there is no way of proving where a God/Gods exist or not.
Humanism: Humanism, as the name says it, refers to the essence of a human being. Humanism is a system of thought based on the best Morals, characteristics and so on in humans. Basically, We can be good to each other, work together, get past prejudice and so on without the need of a supernatural authority.

Atheism and Communism

Every time I talk about atheism, I get this vibe from the other participants of the conversation as if atheism was related to evil, doing bad, thinking bad, hatred and what not. People relate Atheism to Communism, push it to the point of making it sound like Satanism, or maybe are just not informed and not know the difference from both, Which I would guess is what happens to the vast majority of people, They just are not informed, they barely even know facts about their own religion, There's no need to go on.

Communism, Ok, I personally do not believe in communism due to the fact that I believe that you get what you work for, Instead of total equality I'd go for Fairness, where everyone gets an equal shot at being succesfull, without all the miscellaneous crap and what not. Yes, the USSR was majorly atheist due to the separation of church from state deal, it makes sense to an extent, they want it to be fair, so no major religion rules over the smaller ones (for Example: The United States, 3 out of 4 houses = Christian, The other quarter? Who cares right? [American mentality]). No, Atheist people are not communists that burn buildings down.

You need to have in mind that Atheism is just the disbelieving of the existence of a god, gods, superior power, pink stars and/or anything humans idolize. There is no book or manual that tells you what to do like in all the major religions, you don't wake up, take 3 steps back, spin and don't drink coffee because it's a sin. Atheism is towards just admitting that we do not know but we are trying to find out through science and history (facts) where we come from.

Granted, Punks are atheists for the most part, but atheism adds to peoples ideals of a perfect world, punks believe in anarchy, I hope I'm making myself clear. Atheism doesn't tell you what to do, doesn't mold people, doesn't do anything, just helps people identify themselves in a truthful state of acceptance into where we really are, it doesn't make people do anything.

Let's pretend we are all cooks and we wanna cook the perfect set of beliefs,
some people use more salt than others, some use carrots, some don't, some people use atheism added with a teaspoon of communism, some use Christianity with supremacy. It is 1 ingredient to what composes our set of beliefs

Welcome to Atheism Daily, this will be a blog where I and hopefully more people with the drive to fight against ignorance and the pure misconception of what atheism, humanism and others stand for.

Is this blog trying to spread the ideal of atheism and a religion-free life?
it certainly is, in fact, it is one of the main purposes of it, I am tired of being accused of things that are neither true or non-factual or nothing near it.
